Local Information

Teignmouth is situated in South Devon and is one of Devon’s oldest seaside resorts.

Beach and Coast

It is situated below the Haldon hills and lies along a stretch of red sandstone coast at the mouth of the river Teign which has its’ origins on Dartmoor.

Sunset over the Teign

Superb panoramas over Lyme Bay and towards the English Channel can be seen from the typical rolling green fields that surround the town.

With an enviable history of fishing, boat building and as a health resort in Victorian times the town has much to offer visitors and residents.

The town centre itself is relatively level and its’ wealth of small shops and interesting architecture from Georgian cottages to larger Victorian buildings can easily be accessed.

Those seeking links with the past will discover links to John Keats, Charles Babbage, Marine artist Thomas Luny and the renowned harpist Elias Parish Alvars who was born here in 1808.

A growing community of Artists, live Theatre and annual Jazz and Folk Festivals provide current cultural interest

The formation of TAAG will, we believe, strengthen the links between the Arts groups in the area.
