Teignmouth Art Society

Teignmouth Art Society is moving from strength to strength with in excess of 150 members.  We are pleased to announce that within the next few weeks, we should have our very own website.

This years exhibition dates are :


Saturday 24 May – Sunday 1 June 2014
Open daily 10am – 5pm from noon on the first day and Sundays. Free entry.
Venue: Victoria Hall, Bridge Road, Shaldon TQ14 0DB.


Wednesday 13 August – Monday 25 August 2014
Open daily 10am – 5pm from noon on the first day and Sundays. Free entry.

Saturday 29 November – Friday 5 December 2014. Open daily 10am – 5pm. Free entry.
Venue: TAAG Northumberland Street, Teignmouth. TQ14 8DD






Outdoor Sketching Days start at 10.00am and end about 4.00pm. Lunch is usually at 12.30pm. Directions to venues will be provided on request to Jean Clegg ( email at bottom of page). Please make sure the contact for each venue knows you are coming.


Tuesday 10th June: Powderham Castle. Castle, historic buildings, wildlife and landscape. Wet weather sketching in the historic kitchen and café buildings. The No.2 bus stops at Powderham. If going by car, Park in visitor car park and explain at kiosk you belong to Teignmouth Art Society and proceed to castle courtyard. If you attend you will be given a ticket to return when you like in the summer. Leader: Des Maxwell Clark :

Tuesday 24th June: Back Beach, Teignmouth. Joyce Boyne has offered the use of her beach hut with boats, views of Shaldon and sea- activities galore. The hut is next to the lifeboat Station. Public toilets near point car park and easy access to sandwiches etc. Donations to Fishermen’s mission. Leader: Joyce Boyne 01626 776716


Wednesday 9th July: Berry Pomeroy Castle. Painting and sketching around the outside of the Castle. Below the castle is a delightful valley with Gatcombe Brook running through it. Leave Totnes by the A385 towards Paignton. Turn left and follow signs for Berry Pomeroy and the castle. Take the left fork and turn left to the car park which is free and convenient for the castle. Toilets and a café (run separately) are close to the entrance. Post code TQ9 6L J

Thursday 24th July: Garden with view of Highweek Church. Come to Highweek and sketch and paint in a garden with ponds, an orchard , flowers and vegetables and a view of Highweek Church. Bring a packed lunch. The address is ‘Forty-two’ Coombeshead Road , Newton Abbot. Come through N/Abbot to the Ashburton Road immediately past Coombeshead Academy turn right at the traffic lights. Drive up the hill and take the third left (this is still Coombeshead Road), and look for Forty-two on the right. Friday 8th August: Mules Park (East end of Teignmouth near East Cliff café close to Coastguard look out). Meet in the park up the hill from the East Cliff Café. Plenty of activity and good views of Shaldon and the Ness. Public Toilets and café(s) close at hand. Leader: Maureen Fayle


Monday 1st September: Bishopsteignton, Old Walls Vineyard. Come and paint and sketch at the vineyard sitting among the grapes. Follow the A380 as far as the junction with the A381 and Bishopsteignton. The Old Walls vineyard is signposted from the A381. The post code is TQ14 9PQ Leader: Deborah Welland 07775406952
